Stamp Duty savings for first-time buyers

The clock is ticking for first-time buyers who want to save the cost of Stamp Duty.

Those taking their initial step on the property ladder have until March 24, 2012 to complete on their purchase if they want to be sure of avoiding the tax. Buyers in this category are currently exempt from paying the lump sum on homes worth up to £250,000 as long as they finalise their transactions before the given date.
