The value of good neighbours

As the market recovers, homes in some specific pockets of the county are set to be the first to show signs of a return to price stability and, ultimately, growth in values.

Key factors likely to trigger rises include ease of access to mainline railway stations and major roads, the quality of schools and the closeness of amenities such as local shops, golf courses, popular pubs and restaurants. Homes with sea or countryside views, or those within walking distance of the downs or woodland, will be among those becoming increasingly sought after.

Interestingly, too, Lampons predicts a rise in demand for properties in areas where there is a strong sense of community. Whatever our budget, it seems that in these tough economic times most of us want to live somewhere we can combine privacy with a feeling of security and belonging.
