Tips for Viewings
Whatever style of home you have, we guarantee it will sell more effectively if it is presented to its best possible advantage. Which is why we've come up with some tips to help you better prepare your property for sale.
Below are some suggestions you may find useful when getting it ready for our photography session and for those all-important viewings.
- Imagine you're seeing your home for the very first time — inside and out. Does it make a good impression? Should you consider any redecoration?
- Make sure your home looks neat and clutter free — tidy away toys, newspapers and magazines, books, clothes, toiletries, unnecessary kitchen utensils, electrical wiring and remote control handsets.
- Keep kitchen surfaces clear — put away oven gloves, teacloths and detergents. Pinboards and fridge magnets can draw the eye away from more important features.
- Ensure the property is well aired — to freshen the air and eliminate any stale odours.
- Open curtains and blinds, so windows are framed and light fills the rooms.
- Keep the presence of pets discreet — tuck away food and water bowls, beds and cat litter.
- Use lighting to good effect. Switch on lamps to create a stylish and inviting atmosphere in living areas, turn on spotlighting and under cabinet lighting in kitchens.
- Plump up and straighten cushions on sofas, do the same to duvets and bed covers.
- Fresh flowers can bring added colour and fragrance to your home.
- Weather permitting, open windows and patio doors during viewings.
- Ensure lawns are cut, borders weeded and garden equipment stored away.
- Make sure garden furniture is clean and arranged attractively.
- Keep dustbins out of view.
- Remove cars from driveways for the photo shoot — it will make the frontage of your home look bigger and more appealing.
- Relax. You love your home — others will too.
